Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) consists of applying a focused magnetic field on a specific portion of the brain and of recording the reaction in another part of the body. In this example, the primary left motor cortex is stimulated and motor evoked potentials are recorded on the opposite hand. The figure shows interpolation of motor evoked potentials onto the brain surface. Center of gravity on the brain / scalp surface as well as at magnet level. |
